             Sri Lanka launched its first satellite

Srilanka  moved to a new era with the launch of the country's first communication satellite last evening(Tuesday). The satellite 'SupremeSAT-1' was launched successfully at 15:43 hrs(Srilanka time), from regions’ fourth from Xi Chang Space Centre in China with the full technical support of China.....

Sri Lanka takes a place that "45th country to own a communication satellite" and this is  the third country to have launched a satellite after India and Pakistan in South Asia.

                                                      When  the group CEO of SupremeSAT-1 Vijith Peiris talked about this satellite launching, he said that "This is a proud moment for us as citizens of Sri Lanka" and when the Space  System Engineer     
Rohitha Rajapaksa talked about this launching,he said "The launch was initially expected to take place on 22 November but was postponed due to bad weather".

  • Purpose of the launching:Communication process.
  • Launching vehicle:Long March 3B/E Launch vehicle.
  • Launching center:Xi-Chang Satellite launch center.
  • Positioned orbit:Above Sri Lanka in the geostationary orbit at 87.5 degrees east approximately 36000km above the surface of the earth.
